In Downtown New York, Tribeca art gallery Jack Chiles curated a group show titled "Concept Incline" featuring exclusively design artists or artists exploring design as a means of expression. POWERHOUSE was commissioned to create a design performance. For this commission, POWERHOUSE explored fabricating a bench in front of a live audience using materials they could work with in real time. With time as their most urgent constraint, the concept drew inspiration from the "Made on TV" phenomenon of commercial products that marketed speed as a desirable feature.
Powerhouse is a design partnership between architectural iconoclasts Gregory Ketant and Nanu Al-Hamad.
